Your path towards healing starts here…
The start of a new year often brings reflection, hope, and a desire for change. Beginning counseling at this time can be a powerful way to turn those intentions into meaningful action. Therapy offers a supportive space to process the past year, clarify goals, and develop healthier ways of coping with stress, relationships, and life transitions. Rather than waiting until things feel overwhelming, starting counseling early in the year can help build emotional resilience, increase self-awareness, and set a strong foundation for lasting growth. Investing in your mental health is not just a resolution—it’s a commitment to caring for yourself in a deeper, more sustainable way.
When you have experienced a trauma, developed uncontrollable anxiety, have a child who is overwhelmingly oppositional, or anything in between, it can feel extremely isolating. That is why we are here at Sullivan Counseling Services. No one should ever feel alone when they are going through a difficult time and may need an outside source to help guide them in the right direction. Our goal is to help each person who comes to therapy gain motivation to improve their current situation.

Trauma Counseling
Stephanie L. Sullivan has specialized in trauma counseling for over 15 years, working with children, adolescents, families, and adults who have experienced physical, sexual, and emotional or psychological abuse, as well as a wide range of other traumatic experiences. She utilizes a client-centered, trauma-informed approach that prioritizes safety and emotional readiness, ensuring individuals feel sufficiently supported before exploring the details of their experiences.
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an evidence-based treatment designed for children ages 2½ to 7 who exhibit significant oppositional behaviors. This therapeutic approach emphasizes strengthening the parent–child relationship to promote positive interactions and improve the child’s responsiveness to parental guidance. PCIT is currently offered via telehealth.
PCIT is particularly beneficial for families experiencing frequent power struggles, high levels of stress, or challenges related to behavioral regulation, emotional outbursts, or parent–child communication. It is well suited for caregivers seeking practical, evidence-based strategies to strengthen attachment, increase positive behaviors, and create more consistent and effective discipline practices.
Play Therapy
Young children often experience difficulty identifying, understanding, and verbally expressing their emotions. Stephanie L. Sullivan is trained in play therapy, a developmentally appropriate, evidence-informed approach that allows children to communicate thoughts and feelings through play rather than words alone. In sessions, therapeutic play is used to help children process emotions, develop coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and work toward their individualized counseling goals within a safe and supportive environment.
